Application Information

The NYU-Bellevue Clinical Psychology Internship Program accepts applications from advanced students enrolled in APA-approved doctoral programs in psychology. To qualify for consideration, applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States must submit copies of appropriate paperwork documenting eligibility to be employed in the US for the duration of the internship year (July 1 to June 30). Visa status must allow for direct patient contact. NYU-Bellevue is unable to sponsor visas for foreign nationals.

Applicants must complete all sections of the online APPIC Application for Psychology Internship (AAPI), which can be found at the APPIC website: www.appic.org.  The AAPI includes a cover letter, four essays, a curriculum vita, graduate school transcript(s), letters of recommendation, and approval from your Director of Clinical Training (DCT). The application deadline is November 1, for consideration for admission on July 1 of the following year.  Please note the following additional instructions when completing the AAPI you will submit to our program:

  • Applicants must select Site Number 1476 when completing the “Selecting a Designation” portion of the AAPI in order to submit their application to our program.
  • In the “Cover Letter” portion of the AAPI, applicants must indicate to which of the three internship tracks they are applying; each applicant may apply to one track only. Indicate whether you are applying to the Adult Psychology Track (Program Code Number 147611), the Child and Adolescent Psychology Track (Program Code Number 147612) or the Forensic Psychology Track (Program Code Number 147613).
  • We require three letters of recommendation from faculty and/or supervisors familiar with your clinical work.
  • We do not require, nor do we request, the submission of any additional materials (e.g. work samples or testing reports).

The NYU-Bellevue Clinical Psychology Internship Program requires on-site interviews. Interviews are conducted between late November and early January. Applicants will be notified of interview status by December 15. Applicants invited to interview are asked to bring one wallet-size photo.

The NYU-Bellevue Clinical Psychology Internship Program agrees to abide by APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the APPIC website at www.appic.org in order to familiarize themselves with the most updated APPIC Match policies.
