Psychology Externship

The aim of this Externship Program is to provide intermediate-level training in the areas of psychotherapy and psychological testing with moderately to severely disturbed patients. Over the course of 12 months, externs complete three four-month-long rotations on inpatient or outpatient units or clinics under the supervision of a psychologist on the service. One rotation on an inpatient unit is required of all externs. Externs will gain experience in conducting assessments on this rotation. The other rotations (discussed in the link above) are assigned according to the interests of the extern and the needs of the hospital. In addition to the rotations, externs also carry at least two outpatient psychotherapy cases (at least one adult and one child or adolescent case) and co-lead a group. A didactic seminar and an experiential group for the externs are held on Monday afternoons.
